Bleachers – How Dare You Want More

Sounds like:
Bruce Springsteen, Bad Suns, Colony House

What’s so good?

Bleachers have released their latest single ahead of their upcoming album, Take the Sadness Out of Saturday Night, out July 30th. Leaning heavily on US classic rock, “How Dare You Want More” is a colourful explosion of Springsteen-esque miscellany, replete with rambunctious gang vocals and a make-you-wanna-get-up-and-dance saxophone-guitar call-and-response section. It’s nostalgic and retro enough that it’ll feel somewhat familiar in its overall sound, but there’s a modernity, a cleanliness, and sophistication to it that breathes so much life into it that it’s completely unlike anything you’ve ever heard before. In a statement, vocalist and producer Jack Antonoff said of the track:“Over the past few years I found out things about my family that challenged some of the myths of our structure. I’ve felt rage, fear, darkness etc. around it, but at the end of the day what I am left with is that everybody wants a little more and going out there and trying to get it is something that can produce a lot of shame in people. So … how dare you want more? How dare you go out and get what you want? How do you ask for it when you’re not sure if you even deserve it? It’s an easy song to write about the people in my life and the hardest thing to do to oneself. This one is the band on fire. Testing the boundaries of how close we can get to the edge without falling off.”“How Dare You Want More” follows previous singles “Stop Making This Hurt” which arrived in May, “Chinatown” featuring Bruce Springsteen, and “45”, which will all feature on the new album. Take the Sadness Out of Saturday Night will be Bleachers’ third album and follows 2017’s Gone Now.
