The Rowing Blazers x Sperry Boat Shoe Collab Is Made From rPET Ceritifed Recycled Materials

Jack Carlson’s irreverent prep-meets-streetwear brand Rowing Blazers and heritage American footwear brand Sperry have teamed up for the sixth time to release a Rowing Blazers x Sperry Boat Shoe collaboration.

The Rowing Blazers x Sperry Boat Shoe collaboration is a limited-edition take on the original 1935 boat shoe highlighted by its construction which has the shoes made from rPET certified recycled materials. The Rowing Blazers updates the Authentic Original with features that include a Vibram® lug sole, two-toned Tasman hiker laces, shock-absorbing EVA heel cups, and a pull featuring Rowing Blazers’ signature zig-zag motif. Most notably, it is made with a 100% certified rPET upper. rPET is recycled polyethylene terephthalate — the plastic that is used in soda bottles, food containers, and more.

“It’s an honor to be tapped by Sperry once again. We’ve created some amazing designs over the past few years. This time, I wanted to take it back to basics. I grew up wearing the A/O boat shoe, and it’s an American icon. But I’m interested in exploring alternative and more sustainable materials in footwear. The rPET material lends itself particularly well to bright colors, and Rowing Blazers is all about color. The Vibram lug sole makes the shoe more substantial and more modern to me, and the Tasman hiker lace also.” — Jack Carlson, creative director of Rowing Blazers.

The Rowing Blazers x Sperry Boat Shoe collaboration is now available in three different colorways for the retail price of $160. Find the entire capsule at sperry.com and rowingblazers.com.

In other release news, the Air Jordan 5 Green Bean makes its return on May 28th.
