2021 was a huge year for collectors and sellers of trading cards alike. The collector’s mindset took hold, carried by NFTs and the auctioning of specific trading cards up to six figures. Resale platforms experienced record numbers in the trading card category, and StockX is leading the pack in that vein with an ever-expanding collection waiting for you to get involved. The latest addition to this category that we’ve got our eyes on is the Pokémon Star Birth Box.

If you’ve been following our trading card coverage, you’re probably already familiar with the Sword & Shield Era of the Pokémon TCG. Pokémon Star Birth is the ninth main expansion to this era and is made up of 100 cards plus Secret Rares, including the brand new Charizard VSTAR. Anyone who’s even slightly in the know about Pokémon will know the appeal of anything Charizard…

Another of the more exciting parts of Pokémon Star Birth is the introduction of the VSTAR mechanic which evolve from Pokémon V increasing the Pokémon’s Hit Points as well as equipping them with more powerful attacks. Any VSTAR Pokémon also earn an exclusive VSTAR Power that can be used once per game, coming in the form of an attack or ability.

The Pokémon Star Birth Booster Box arrives in the standard Japanese format, holding 30 packs per box and five cards per pack. If you’re looking for a set with more collector’s pieces, opt for the Premium Trainer Box which holds 20 expansion packs, containing five cards each. Each VSTAR Premium Trainer Box contains one card storage box, one Pokémon coin, one VSTAR marker, one acrylic damage counter set, one premium condition marker, and one damage counter dice.

The Pokémon Star Birth Booster Box retails for a price of $42, but if you’re looking for assurance on your box, StockX market data indicates an average sale price of $125. The Trainer box retails for a price of $52 but currently sits at an average sale price of $158.
