So, Is Fashion Month Digital or IRL or What?

Fashion Month is fast approaching and, as the world weathers a surge in COVID-19 cases, the viability of travel and in-person gatherings remains up in the air.

The Fall/Winter 2022 season will kick off with men’s shows, starting in Milan on January 14. Already, big-ticket names including JW Anderson and Giorgio Armani have canceled their shows, instead opting for a digital format (Anderson is abandoning Italy entirely, holding his showroom in London instead).

In Paris, Acne Studios, Dries Van Noten, and Yohji Yamamoto (among others) will also present digitally.

Interestingly, Paris Couture Week — which directly follows the men’s shows — remains largely unchanged, currently set to host a whopping 16 in-person events.

The state of the FW22 womenswear calendar, scheduled to begin in New York on February 11, largely rests on the severity of the pandemic in four weeks’ time — so consider things TBD for now.

Below, we’ve laid out this month’s shows, which designers are (tentatively) sticking with a physical format, and which are going digital.
