Daniel Lee’s Surprise Departure, Supreme’s Y2K Tiffany & Co. Collab, Thoughts on Gorpcore

It’s the weekend, baby!

With daylight savings and plenty of happenings this week, we couldn’t be happier that we finally get two days of rest.

Last weekend resulted in an incredible tragedy at Travis Scott’s Astroworld Festival in Houston, leaving nine dead and plenty more injured. There are still investigations surrounding the festival, with little-to-no more news currently being shared. Our thoughts are with the families of those who didn’t make it back.

It was a week filled with news, to say the least. Daniel Lee is leaving Bottega Veneta, and no one saw it coming.

Gucci and Balenciaga’s Hacker collaboration finally released, as well, and Gucci also dropped a limited-edition “GG” monogram Xbox.

In the world of sneakers, we saw the release of the Aimé Leon Dore x New Balance 993, G-Dragon’s Nike Kwondo 1, the Off-White™ x Air Jordan 2 Low, and new Chuck Taylor’s from Rick Owens x Converse.

The CFDA Awards also took place, awarding designers including Grace Wales Bonner, Telfar Clemens, Christopher John Rogers, and Demna Gvasalia for their respective achievements, and the red carpet gave us an unforgettable ERL look from Kid Cudi.

Vetements launched VTMNTS, Supreme opened in Berlin, and Kim Kardashian’s Fendi x Skims made $1 million in one minute.

Catch up on some of this week’s biggest stories below.

“Admittedly, the truth is a hard pill to swallow. It’s tough to admit that there is no overarching evil plan and, sometimes, we simply endure senseless tragedies for no justifiable reason. There’s no secret plot to uncover.”

“Jil Sander’s design team has offered up products that go further, tinkering with silhouette and detail to completely rework the base products, which has, in turn, divided the fanbase.”

“It hasn’t even been 24 hours since we learned that Daniel Lee would be leaving Bottega Veneta after three years at the label, but everyone is already speculating who could potentially succeed him – and where he will go next.”

“I wanted to know what the real hikers make of their leisure pursuit suddenly being considered in Vogue, so I went to Watendlath Tarn, a randomly chosen spot in the Lake District, United Kingdom to find out.”

“The unexpected team-up speaks not only to Tiffany’s slow-but-sure rebrand but also to fashion’s overarching attempt at “luxurifing” the early 2000s, an era in which Tiffany’s toggle bracelets, Juicy Couture sweatsuits, and low-rise jeans were all the rage.”

“No hoodies, no printed basics, no sweatpants: LV² promised a new breed of streetwear fitted with blazers and creased slacks. Here the Louis Vuitton monogram isn’t merely a luxury flex, but a symbol of sophistication”

“Our foray into sustainable initiatives at Proenza Schouler got us thinking about working on a collaboration that celebrated this approach in other industries,” the designers continue, adding that Mercedes-Benz has always been synonymous with craftsmanship and is aspirational – a luxury that is very appealing and exciting.”

“Football shirts used to be simple. Most clubs had a home kit, an away kit, and latterly, a third kit to change. You would pick a favorite and then wear it until the prints would peel. Rinse and repeat every other season.”
