God, Or WhateverDeath Cab for Cutie gives us nihilism in its purest and most obsessively beautiful alt-rock form.I don’t always use actual lyrics as a title, but “Feel the Pressure of God, or Whatever” is possibly the most overwhelming selection of words I’ve heard in a while. Death Cab for Cutie has delivered a familiar sound with a layer of quiet decay, that not only gives it a drive as the electric guitar riffs and strums but also slow destruction of itself and its motifs as the chorus kicks and the vocals fight in the quiet.This is the new age Death Cab for Cutie and they are as beautifully relevant as they are destructive.
