RIO HOUSE
This impressive residence, designed by the Olson Kundig
architecture studio, stands out for the solutions found by the
architects to make the most of the 140 square meters of built
area. Located in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, the compact house is located
adjacent to the Tijuca national park overlooking the city, the sea, and
the famous Christ The Redeemer statue. The home is integrated in harmony with
the wildness of its tropical jungle setting, and hovers above the land
supported structurally by two concrete piers. The upper level contains a
bedroom, and living accommodation including a kitchen, dining area, and
lounge. Below, a screened porch, fireplace and outdoor kitchenette
allow the owners to engage the landscape.
