VR Cover Introduces Silicone Covers for Oculus Quest & Rift S

Hygiene has always been an important part of virtual reality (VR) gaming, whether that’s at location-based entertainment (LBE) venues or at home, demoing the latest titles to mates. Which is where VR Cover comes in, creating tailored covers for VR facial interfaces. Today, the company has announced its latest product, silicone covers for Oculus Quest and Rift S.

VR Cover already has several products for either headset, such as the cotton covers which can be machined washed. For those that may not like cotton on their face or want a wipeable option for instant cleaning, the silicone covers offer an alternative.

Made from medical grade silicone which is unoiled, they are hypoallergenic, non-absorbent and washable, stopping sweat, oil and dirt from coming into contact with the normal foam interface. After use, the silicone cover can be cleaned with a microfibre cloth or anti-bacterial wipes.

If you’re a fan of the various fitness apps which have been springing up – especially on Oculus Quest – like Synth Riders, Supernatural, BoxVR and Thrill of the Fight (to name a few), then you’ll know those sessions can get a little sweaty when you put in the effort. Products like VR Cover then make VR a little less gross if someone else wants to play afterwards.

The silicone covers have gone on sale today, both priced at $14.00 USD. If you’re based in the US then shipping is $7 and takes 5-7 days, while European customers pay the same but have to wait 14 – 21 days due to batch shipping.

While the covers are available for those who already own an Oculus Quest or Rift S, getting hold of the headsets is another matter. Stock came flooding back in early May but that was quickly lapped up, with Oculus’ UK website currently out of stock.

VRFocus will continue its coverage of the latest VR accessories large and small, reporting back with further announcements.
