adidas Skateboarding announces “Nora”, their new digital short documenting the birth of skate icon, Nora Vasconcellos, in celebration of its first female Pro rider who joined the brand’s global skateboarding team earlier this year. The digital short will make its debut in a few days, but today we share the trailer with you.

The digital short gives a concrete look at a charismatic skater and her personal experience navigating a predominantly male-led industry. Unapologetic and focused, the short film follows a young girl receiving her first board on Christmas to becoming the self-actualized woman and professional that Nora is today. Her style is fluid, her personality infectious, and her determination unwavering. Dubbed the Black Mamba colorway, this Nike Kobe A.D. Mid comes covered in Black throughout the majority of the upper with University Gold hits on the Swoosh branding on the side panels, the special “Black” “Mamba” branding on the tongues, the branding on the insoles, and the rubber outsole.

These Two Straight Guys Are Planning to Get Married to Avoid High Inheritance Tax

Two male Irish friends, neither of which is gay, have decided to get married in order to avoid paying a hefty inheritance tax. It sounds like the plot of a Hollywood comedy, only in real life.

Michael O’Sullivan, from Stoneybatter, north Dublin, has been friends with Matt (surname not disclosed for privacy reasons) for almost 30 years. Both are in their 80s, and O’Sullivan is now Matt’s caretaker and stands to inherit his home and other possessions. Unfortunately, because of Ireland’s Capital Acquisitions Tax (Cat), which applies to gifts and inheritances over specified amounts, Matt would have to pay 33% to the government. However, the tax does not apply to gifts or inheritance given to a spouse or civil partner, so the two men decided that the best way would be to get married. Continue reading

Fluffy Siberian Cats Overtake Couple’s Farm, Turn It Into Snowy “Catland”

Introducing the Queen of Cat Ladies: Russian farmer Alla Lebedeva, who claims her farm-turned-“Catland” is home to “a million, maybe more” Siberian cats. Located in snowy Prigorodny, just outside Barnaul, Siberia, Lebedeva and her husband Sergey have been raising this majestic breed of felines for over ten years. Their cat collection began in 2004 when their first lion-like cat named Babushka gave birth to five ginger kittens. Since then, the couple’s farm became overrun with furry friends. According to Lebadeva, the shared living situation works both ways—the cats “protect the chickens and rabbits from rats and mice,” she explains. Continue reading
