UK based singer Nahli releases her stunning new single RELAPSE, a perfect slice of modern R&B and Soul, available via ALKMY Records, the new label from pioneering grime producer DaVinChe
‘Relapse’ is a moody, elegant and honest symphony of lyrics, vocal, and rhythm; polished and perfectly mid-tempo with just the right amount of bounce.
“I really struggle to let go of people I’ve cared for”, says Nahli on the new track. “My heart cares about that person for a long time after a breakup. While I’m healing, it’s so easy for me to relapse back into a relationship I shouldn’t be in. My heart overrules my brain, hugely”.
‘Relapse’ is the follow up to the 2018 debut single, ‘Say Nothin’’, co-produced by DJ/producer/writer Reiss (Ghetts, Shakka), but most will have already heard Nahli’s voice, thanks to features on massive UK Garage tunes like Rude Kid’s ‘Please Don’t’ and Conducta’s ‘Only U’. With big radio support, these tracks also saw Nahli praised by the likes of The Hype Magazine, Conversations About Her, Hypefresh, Trench, L’Art Magazine, House Of Solo Mag and Hunger TV. She has also been playlisted on New Music Friday UK & Grime Shutdown on Spotify. Nahli has recently collaborated with Crystal Fighters, providing vocals for their track ‘Costa Rica’, available on their new album.
Mentor and manager is Grime veteran DaVinChe whose stamp on the genre was indelible from the start. Heralded as one of the first to introduce tracks with female singers to the genre, the style was later to be known as R’n’G (Rhythm and Grime). Hailed as the ‘R&G King’ by Complex Mag, DaVinChe has worked with the likes of Katie Pearl, Kano, Sadie Ama, and Shola Ama to create the R&G sound.
DaVinChe about Nahli, “A lot of great singers hit all the right notes, but somehow don’t bring your song to life. A lot of people’s voices bring the song to life but aren’t necessarily great singers. NAHLI is and has both. As a producer that’s the holy grail”.
‘Relapse’ is the first of many releases planned for Nahli for 2019, which is already proving to be an exciting year for the British singer. She is also busy preparing her first live dates, details to be confirmed.
