Juba launches series two of Assurance podcast, celebrating women DJs in Global South

Berlin-based DJ Juba has launched a second series of her podcast, Assurance, which focuses on women-identifying DJs from the developing world.

The first episode of the latest series went online this week, and sees Juba talk with Cape Town-based DJ Gina Jeanz. Together, they discuss South Africa’s music and nightlife scene, as well as issues such as gender-based violence in Gina Jeanz’s home base. You can listen via the embed below.

The second series of the podcast will also feature future instalments from the likes of Nairobi DJ Coco Em and Medellín’s Julianna, with a new episode dropping each Monday.

As well as focusing on the music and nightlife scenes, and societal issues, of each DJ’s home city, this new series will also look at how the COVID-19 pandemic has impacted local club communities in cities around the world, covering countries in Africa, Asia, Latin America and the Middle East.

The first series of Assurance launched earlier this year, and saw Juba speak to the likes of Kampire, Badsista, Valesuchi and more.
