Delicate insect-inspired sculpture made from colored glass

Nature can inspire art in numerous ways. For Nikita Drachuk, this means using glass to sculpt accurate likeness of insects found in nature.

The Ukrainian artist works of Glass Symphony fame creates all kinds of glass sculpture. His more recent work is a series of spiders, octopi, and other insects all colorfully fashioned using glass. Using a process called lampworking in which colored glass rods are heated to a melting point with a lamp or a torch. The molten glass can then be blown and shaped into desired forms.
